Sticky Rice Roll originate from "onigiri" which is what Japanese made for picnic and lunch, in the early days coal miners head out early and had a poor working environment, they had to squeeze their food to a size within a bite so they could eat up during work hours. Back then the rice rolls were wrapped by bamboo leafs leaving the scent of a bamboo with it.
Nowadays Sticky Rice Roll still can be easily found in Taiwan, it has evolved into a fast-food kind of snack with all kinds of our favorite elements such like eggs and pork chops, you can find them in every convenience store ,7-11 , fami-mart … if you would like to try traditional ones, you can visit “YONG HE DOU JIANG” , they are easy to find in many corners of street.
